“I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh….Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are…outbursts of wrath…”

Romans 8:13:
“For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.”

It is only by the Spirit of God that we can overcome the works of the flesh (including anger). Walk by the Spirit–and the Bible says we will not fulfill the flesh. It’s not so much about controlling our anger, but about letting our thoughts and actions be led by the Spirit–and killing the deeds of the body when the Spirit says to.
