About the song--is it supposed to be about the war?  

I like that it talks about surrender--surrender to God rather than to man or fatigue or whatever.  But I&#039;m also wondering how many miles this fellow could have saved if he&#039;d realized he could lay down his guns and surrender from ANYWHERE &quot;And I can’t count the miles that I’ve walked to find my way To lay down these guns&quot;.  I think that a lot of times we try to find our way to God when really He&#039;s the one who travels to us--we have only to surrender, right where we&#039;re at.  Then again, if this is in the context of war, maybe that&#039;s not what it meant at all.]]></description>
