Be Thou, My Vision. Possibly my favorite song ever.
I especially like
"Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art."

And I've loved "In the Garden" since I learned of it--when I discovered that it was Great-Grandma's favorite song.

You missed Grandpa's Favorite song, and one I'm particularly fond of too. <a href="http://www.hymnlyrics.org/mostpopularhymns/my_hope_is_built.php" rel="nofollow">On Christ the Solid Rock</a>

But yes, I love hymns too. So many of those that have stood the test of time have done so because they are theologically rich, heart-rendingly honest, and absolute art.
